Marion was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2002, after receiving her law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2000 and an Honours Bachelors degree in Labour Studies from McMasterUniversity in 1997.
After receiving her law degree Marion articled and continued to practice with an Ottawa firm specializing in general litigation and labour/employment law, appearing before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Municipal Board, arbitrators and the Employment Standards Tribunal. She then spent one year working for the Canadian Construction Association drafting contracts and documents before moving her practice closer to her home in Stittsville in 2008 to provide a better balance between family (including two young children) and work.
Since moving her practice to Stittsville, Marion has used her solid background in litigation and drafting to negotiate matters relating to family, employment and corporate law and has been successful in actively growing her practice in all areas of a general law practice including real estate, wills & estates, small business and general litigation.
While Marion is comfortable in a courtroom, she believes in the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (including collaborative family law and mediation), particularly in family law, as a means for parties to be active participants in finding a resolution that best fits their particular situation or family.
On a more personal note, Marion is a military family member and offers a 10% discount to military families for drafting wills and powers of attorneys. She also offers discounts to real estate clients who are buying and selling a home and to first time home buyers.
